Hospice of the Valley’s 2025 Pro-Am Golf Tournament, presented by Cigna Healthcare, raised $50,000 for the nonprofit’s charity care programs. The April 17 event drew 27 wonderful threesomes and 27 talented pros to Grayhawk Golf Club on a picture-perfect day.

“The way that Hospice of the Valley cares for their patients and the families of those patients is deeply aligned with how Cigna positions ourselves to serve the community,” said Erica Emmons, Cigna’s VP for Client Retention. “It really is a win-win for everyone involved and I hope we can continue partnering for many years to come.”

Brock Embree is with Lockton Companies, one of this year’s corporate sponsors. “A lot of us at Lockton have actually had family members receive Hospice of the Valley care,” he said. “So it’s very near and dear to our hearts to give back and be part of our community in that way.”

Volunteer tournament chairman Jay Hoselton started the event in 1998, raising more than $1 million since that time to help provide compassionate care to thousands of patients and families in need. It’s a testament to the generosity and commitment of title sponsor Cigna and the many players and sponsors who look forward to this annual tradition, now in its 27th year.

“They’re the ones who make this thing happen,” he said. “As long as I can stand and walk, I’m going to keep running this tournament! It’s just a great group with a lot of great people and a great day for a great charity.”

Jenni Veretto loves the annual tournament and says APRIA, Part of the Owens & Minor Family, is proud support Hospice of the Valley’s medical equipment needs.  “We just feel honored that they continue to be partners with us and we can keep partnering with them to keep caring for patients. It’s an honor.”

This year’s tournament boasted a $20,000 professional purse and showcased top players from the Southwest Section of the PGA. Pro Riley Wheeldon was the winning pro and took home the $4,700 top prize!
